Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal postponed, makers to announce new release date soon
Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role will not release on August 11 anymore.
Ever since Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced Animal with Ranbir Kapoor, fans have been looking forward to the actioner. The team recently dropped a short pre-teaser, announcing that the film will release on August 11. However, Animal’s release has been reportedly pushed and it is now eyeing a December release.
While the film’s team is yet to make an official announcement, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the news. He wrote, ” #Xclusiv… ‘ANIMAL’ NOT ARRIVING ON INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND… #Animal – starring #RanbirKapoor and directed by #SandeepReddyVanga – *won’t* release on 11 Aug 2023… Yes, the film has been postponed… A new release date will be announced in the coming days. #BhushanKumar.”
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the film’s VFX is the reason for the delay. A source informed the portal that given Animal is one of the most ambitious projects helmed by T-Series, they do not want to compromise on the quality. The director supposedly needs more time to give a ‘world-class product’, the producers are standing by him.
“Sandeep is a perfectionist and wants to release an uncompromised product on the VFX front. The teams were working day and night to complete the film, but the action scenes are so grand that it is not possible to have their best version ready for August 11. After seeing the vision for Sandeep, and the output that would have been ready by August 11, the producers along with Ranbir Kapoor took a collective call to delay the film to December,” the source told the publication.
The report further suggested that Animal will tentatively drop in cinema halls on December 1. This gives it enough time before Dunki arrives at Christmas and does not face competition with Tiger, which is releasing during Diwali. A part of the report read, “The team believes that arriving on December 1 will give the film a 3-week window as no other film would want to come in the middle of 3 event sagas – Tiger 3, Animal, and Dunki. It’s a well-strategized date that they locked, and a 4-month delay will give the makers enough time to complete the VFX work.”
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna.
