‘MS Dhoni could definitely play again next year in IPL 2024’: CSK teammate Moeen Ali

His ability to lead from the front and his astute decision-making skills have earned him a place in the hearts of many. His current teammate Moeen Ali believes that despite being 41 years old, Dhoni can continue for one more season.

“He could definitely play again next year,” Ali was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.

“The way he’s playing, I don’t think his batting will stop him from playing, even if it’s in two or three years’ time.

“I wasn’t surprised at how he played [against Rajasthan]. I’ve been watching him in the nets, and he’s been batting unbelievably well. It’s just amazing to see from somebody at that age. It’s not easy when you come in so late – people often forget that, but that’s what makes him so good at his role.”

Speaking about Dhoni’s leadership, Ali said that the process is most important for the team and the result takes care of itself.

Speaking on CSK’s social media handle, Ali said, “The one thing with CSK is it’s not always about the result, it’s about the process, and that takes care of the result. You’re not going to always win. One thing we know under MS the process is really important. If we do that well we win most of the games. so, yeah that is the plan.”

“That’s how you really come back from losing you don’t overtry too much. or you don’t do things that you wouldn’t normally do so. We didn’t perform as well as we know we can but still we took it close, so there’s a lot to take from that but hopefully this one will be better than last game,” he added.

Speaking about the side’s clash against RCB Ali said, “It’s a place where you have to be super brave because the crowd is electric here and it is amazing and the noise is fantastic and it can get to bowlers. So just be real clear and really brave and take it from there really it might be that you bowl well and get hit for a lot of runs here.”

“It’s one of those grounds one of those teams to play against also they have a brilliant batting lineup depending on the surface if it spins then use your spinners if it doesn’t then go to use seamers as well so bowl good balls and stop the run rate as much as you can and most of the times you get wickets by doing that. So that will be the plan. It’s going to be very difficult against two world-class players (Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis) as we know and they have Maxwell who is a brilliant player and the players who can come in and do well as well,” he added.

M Chinnaswamy is known to be one of the best pitches in the country to bat on and bowlers have always found it hard to bowl on the surface. “I think both sets of bowlers all would naturally struggle here. I think whoever bowls the best, especially in the last 10 overs has a great chance of winning the game think both bowling teams are strong in their own way but I know after playing here it’s a very difficult ground to defend no matter who comes here. So yeah it’s going to be a great challenge for both teams and hopefully a really good game as well,” Ali said.
