Adipurush pre-release collection: Distribution rights of Prabhas starrer sold for exorbitant price but the film is yet to break even
Adipurush is the re-telling of the Hindu mythology Ramayana. Other than Prabhas as Raghava, the film has Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Sunny Singh as Hanuman, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.
Adipurush is making all the right noise ahead of its worldwide release on June 16. The Prabhas starrer, which is allegedly made on a budget of Rs 500 crore, has already done great business in terms of distribution rights, according to film trade analysts. The distribution rights of the movie for the two Telugu-speaking states–Telangana and Andhra Pradesh–were sold for Rs 150 core (approx) to People Media Factory.
According to film tracker Ramesh Bala, the distribution rights for Adipurush in the Hindi belt and the rest of South India were sold for Rs 120 crore. In total, the film’s distribution rights alone have made a business of Rs 270 crore. Though this is a record number for a film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Om Raut directorial is yet to break even as its budget is humongous.
However, if reports are to be believed, the OTT and satellite rights of the film have been sold for a whopping amount of Rs 210 crore. Even after factoring in the satellite and OTT rights, the film is short of Rs 30 to 50 crore to break even, according to sources. Nevertheless, with the rapid pre-booking of the tickets, the movie is expected to turn profitable in a matter of a few days after its release.
Ahead of its release, many have bought the tickets for Adipurush in bulk including Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, who booked 10,000 tickets to distribute it to underprivileged children. Now, Telugu star Manoj Manchu has also joined the bandwagon. Along with his wife Bhuma Mounika, Manoj has decided to buy 2500 tickets for the film and will distribute them to kids in Andhra Pradesh.
Adipurush is the re-telling of the Hindu mythology Ramayana. The story is about Raghava fighting Ravana, with the help of Hanuman and Vanara army, to retrieve his wife Janaki. Other than Prabhas, the film has Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Sunny Singh as Hanuman, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. Ajay and Atul have composed the music for the film, which is releasing in multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
