Adipurush box office collection Day 14: Prabhas’ controversial Ramayana adaptation drops to just Rs 39 lakh in the Hindi market

After an uncontested run in theatres for almost two weeks, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s Adipurush faces steep competition from Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s Satyaprem Ki Katha, which debuted in theatres on Thursday. Early estimates suggest that Adipurush has earned just Rs 39 lakh on day 14 in the Hindi market, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The total collections of director Om Raut’s film stands at Rs 145.21 crore at the Hindi box office, and around Rs 280 crore across India. Globally, the film has grossed over Rs 400 crore, but it hasn’t been able to recover its reported Rs 500 crore budget.

Adipurush had a spectacular opening weekend as the film, also starring Saif Ali Khan, earned Rs 140 crore worldwide on its opening day. But the film tanked immediately after its opening weekend. Now, Satyaprem Ki Katha is coming in all guns blazing to take over the screens that are still allotted to Adipurush. The romantic drama made Rs 9 crore on its first day.

Prabhas last experienced super success with his two Baahubali films, directed by SS Rajamouli. Prabhas, who was described as among the first pan-Indian stars, has given consecutive flops after the success of the Baahubali films, with Saaho, Radhe Shyam and now Adipurush all failing critically and commercially. However, even as his films continue to perform poorly at the box office and fail to impress the audience, Prabhas continues to get big moneys for his projects. Reportedly, Prabhas has charged over Rs 150 crore for his next film — Project K — with Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan.

Adipurush was reportedly made on a mega budget of Rs 500 and was hyped as one of the biggest films this year. Despite its disappointing performance at the box office, it has turned out to be the second-biggest grosser of 2023, after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which grossed Rs 1,050.3 crore at the worldwide box office.

vk758501 I too have a dream world of my own. I dream big, far and wide of the world that I live in. I am sad and afraid to live in such a world that is full of sins and negativity. I have a dream world where there is no violence, no hatred, no greed, but just peace, love and harmony. A world where mankind helps each other and is not jealous of each other, where people are not categorized based on their caste and creed, where there is no difference between the rich and poor, but rather considered as equals. A world where there is lots of fun and goodness and where it is safe for every human being who lives in there.
