Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan box office collection day 5: Salman Khan-starrer defies poor reviews to pass Rs 130 crore worldwide
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan box office collection day 5: Salman Khan's family entertainer will not be able to pass the Rs 100 crore mark domestically in its first week, going by current trends.
Salman Khan’s gamble to double down on his real-life image seems to be paying off on the big screen. The actor’s latest release, the family entertainer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, is estimated to have made around Rs 7.5 crore on Tuesday, which marks a marginal decrease from its Rs 10 crore nett collection on its first Monday.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film’s day five collection will take its domestic nett figures to Rs 85 crore. The same report predicted that Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan would not be able to pass the Rs 100 crore mark within its first week, but could see major spikes over the weekend. Globally, KKBKKJ has passed Rs 130 crore. The film opened in conjunction with the Eid holiday, and made Rs 15 crore on its first day. This was seen as a subpar opening for a Salman Khan-starrer.
But KKBKKJ picked up the pace significantly over the weekend, collecting Rs 25 crore on Saturday and Rs 26 crore on Sunday. While these numbers are still small as compared to some of Salman’s biggest hits, KKBKKJ is only the third Bollywood movie of the year to successfully attract crowds to theatres. While Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan set numerous industry records, Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar also managed to make nearly Rs 150 crore nett at the domestic box office.
Bollywood Hungama expects KKBKKJ to end its domestic run with less than Rs 150 crore, which would make it the worst-performing Salman Khan-starrer since Jai Ho in 2014, not counting mid-pandemic release Antim: The Final Truth, and the direct-to-streaming release Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. Even some of his notorious ‘flops’, Dabangg 3 and Race 3, managed to collect at least Rs 170 crore in India. KKBKKJ has received poor reviews, but the sheer scope of its release (4500 domestic screens) is compensating for that.
