‘Akshay Kumar told me Teri Mitti is the greatest song of his career’: B Praak opens up about their friendship

Singer B Praak is known for his sad romantic ballads, many of which have featured Akshay Kumar, either in movies or just as singles. And nobody is more surprised about his recurring collaborations with the actor than B Praak himself. In a new interview, the singer spoke about his friendship with Akshay, and revealed how it began.

B Praak appeared as a guest on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey show, but took fans on a tour of his home town Chandigarh. During the conversation, he was asked about Akshay, and he said that their working relationship began with the song “Teri Mitti,” from the film Kesari.

He said in Hindi, “I still remember, everywhere he’d go, he’d promote me. And he did this with all his heart. He told me that ‘Teri Mitti’ is the greatest song of his career, and he’d repeat this in every interview. For me, what could be a bigger compliment?” He continued, “After that, while we were shooting ‘Teri Mitti’ in the studio, I made him listen to ‘Filhall’. He didn’t say anything then, but a month later, he got in touch and said that he wanted to do it. I didn’t know how this would be possible, because ‘Filhall’ wasn’t made for a film, but he said he’d do it as a single.”

Akshay not only starred in the music video for “Filhall,” he also starred in a follow-up, titled “Filhall2 Mohabbat.” Combined, both music videos have earned more than 1.8 billion views on YouTube. B Praak has also performed songs for films such as Bala, Shershaah, Govinda Naam Mera and Akshay’s Bachchhan Paandey.
